OUR LEADERSHIP

Elders, pastors, overseers: the Bible uses these terms interchangeably to refer to the same office. At its heart, this is the position of a shepherd. Together, by God's grace and under the Chief Shepherd, these men lead and care for Christ's flock among them (1 Peter 5:2).

  • Steve Barbee

    Lead Pastor, Elder

    email

Steve's journey to The Church at West Creek began close to home. Steve came to trust in Christ at a young age through the witness of his parents and the ministry of Old Oak Bible Church. While strong in his faith when he went to college, going into church ministry was not on his radar. In the midst of his pursuit to become the next big sports agent, Steve began to sense desire to become a pastor. Since then, he's received a B.A. in History from Malone University and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was humbled to serve as a pastor of the church where he grew up, and was instrumental in the merger that birthed The Church at West Creek. Steve lives in Middleburg with his wife, Kate. He enjoys taking his wife on dates, exercising, drinking coffee, being a mediocre guitar player (his words), and being a cautiously optimistic Cleveland sports fan.

  • Bill Barbee

    elder

Alongside his wife, Donna, Bill has faithfully served in the church for nearly 30 years, being an elder for most of that time. He joyously assists with music on Sunday mornings, teaches in Core Seminars, and preaches on occasion.

  • Jared guyaux

    elder

Jared became an elder in 2023. He and his wife, Emily, quickly folded into West Creek as those who intentionally build relationships. Jared and Emily oversee our teen group and co-lead a community group. In his spare time, you'll find Jared playing a board game, reading a book, or building something.

  • Randol Kennedy

    Elder

A native of the Caribbean island of Barbados, Randol and his wife, Anita, came to Cleveland in 2017. They quickly became beloved members and leaders in the church, and West Creek called Randol as an elder in 2021. Randol teaches regularly in West Creek’s Core Seminars and preaches on occasion. In his free time, you can find him mountain biking or watching FC Barcelona (“real football” as he likes to say).

  • dan shaffer

    elder

Dan became an elder in 2023. Dan has a heart for those who don't know Jesus and for those who do to know and serve him more. Dan enjoys time with his wife, Jaclyn, and their three daughters. He teaches regularly at our core seminars, co-leads a community group, and often uses his vacation time to support gospel work overseas.

  • Jonathan Shold

    elder

Jonathan became an elder in 2023. In addition to serving as an elder, Jonathan serves as our music director and pastoral assistant. He oversees our core seminar ministry and co-leads a community group. He's married to Jenna, loves God and music, and serves with a kind, humble heart.
